He is survived by his wife, Dr. Ruth Lezotte, sons Andy and Eric, siblings Ronald, Dennis, Susan, and Richard, and and five grandchildren.

Dr Lezotte was born June 27, 1941 in Wyandotte, Michigan. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Education from Western Michigan University, and later went on to complete his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Education from Michigan State University.

During his 18-year tenure as a professor at Michigan State University, Dr. Lezotte served as chair of the Department of Educational Administration, Associate Director of the Center for School Improvement in the College of Education, and a faculty member of Urban and Metropolitan Studies in the College of Urban Affairs.
